At Colombo apartments, we do care about our impact in the environment! and we are happy to share some tips with you so we all contribute to the same cause.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Colombo apartments manage waste within 3 different streams, so this requires that all residents and occupants prepare your materials for disposal in a separate way according to its contents:

  • Mixed Recyclables

  • Landfill

  • Hard Rubbish

In Australia, these are the most generic types of rubbish a household produce. We do require all Residents that you take a moment to think about your impact in the environment and that by following this simple program, you will contribute in a positive way.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

We invite you to investigate, read, and ask before you dispose of any materials. For that we have displayed at the bins rooms (one for each building) a big signage with a color codification and images to make it easy. You will be able no doubt to understand the differences of each type of waste collection.

Keep on mind the following suggestion to make it easier and more hygienic for everyone:

1. LANDFILL must be disposed of in firmly closed plastic bags to avoid smells and contamination. We advise you to be extra careful not to drop any liquids or landfill contents on the way to the bins room; carpets and tiles areas will get contaminated and start smelling. It cost to the building to get them all steam cleaned and properly disinfected. In the event of an unfortunate accident with liquids or rubbish, please report it immediately if happens during business hours otherwise try your best to fix it and report it to management anyways to get it rectified next working day.

2. MIXED RECYCLABLES must be disposed of loose, without plastic bags or wrappers. Foam and Polystyrene must be teated as landfill. All cardboard must be flattened NOT crushed, by doing this we can maximize the use of space in our bins. We encourage you to keep all plastic containers, dishes and /or glassware dry of contents to make more durable the bins and avoid smells and contamination of other recyclable materials that are clean such as paper and cardboard. We also advise you to make your best effor to flat cardboard boxes and packaging materials. If you feel unable to do it so please report it to management we will help you out to find a suitable to way to dispose those packaging materials.

3. HARD RUBISH is collected during first week of each month. City council sends a truck to collect all our unwanted furniture and white goods. Residents need to keep all your items until next collection as the building does not have a storage room to keep them for you. A message in the main board will be displayed before every monthly collection as a reminder.

Next collections are due on :
